This web page demonstrates an Ajax-based application that searches for and displays Linux manual (“man”) pages. To use it, start typing any search term into the text field below. Don’t hit the <Enter> or <Return> key; this page will search as you type.
The application isn’t perfect; for example, local JavaScript uses relatively simple regular expression parsing to convert the raw output of the remote man command into links and highlights. It serves its purpose as an example, however; and, since everything by JavaScript in your browser (and not on the server), you can easily download these files and try out your own improvements.
